Maaike de Jong
Experience/Certifications/Education:
I’ve had over ten years experience in
fitness, and I’ve been here for 8! I
started training when I was in college. I
ended up getting my degree in education, but
in 1998 went for my personal training certification
at Northeastern University through F.R.A.
I am also certified by AAAI/ISMA.
Classes I currently teach:
I currently teach power sculpt, spinning and
I run an Interval Training Bootcamp with Jason.
I train personal clients and of course, I
love my group training. I also have a “Mommy
Bootcamp” in the morning.
Interests: I enjoy working
out, riding my Harley and hanging out with
my ‘girls’. I love walking my
dog Lucy at the park everyday, playing tennis,
shopping and traveling the world with my husband.
Why I love fitness & the RAC:
I enjoy fitness because it makes me feel great
mentally and physically. I love fitness because
I love helping people reach their goals. There’s
nothing more rewarding than that! I love making
people sweat! The members, staff and the owner
help to make this place an environment that
you want to be a part of daily. |

Kerri H. Mathieu
I have been teaching spinning/cycling almost
everyday for the past 7 years. I am certified
through the IFA. I also have a Bachelor’s
degree in biology and a Master’s as a
Physician’s Assistant. I am certified
in Advanced Life Support & Basic Life Support.
Classes I currently teach:
I presently teach the cycling classes on Tuesdays
and Thursdays at 5:45am, and I love to fill
in any other classes that need coverage.
Interests: My interests
are spinning, outdoor biking, swimming, skating,
skiing, hockey, soccer, baseball, lacrosse
and most of all my family. Every once in a
while when I have a chance, I enjoy relaxing
in the sun and reading a good book.
Why I love fitness & the RAC:
I enjoy fitness because I feel great after
I workout. It relieves a lot of stress, makes
me have a ton of energy and makes me feel
great. I know how important it is for me not
only today, but for my future health. I love
the RAC because I have met a lot of great
people who enjoy working out and having fun
while doing it! The staff is great- always
supportive and greets you with a smile- even
at 5:30am! The 5:45am cycling class is the
best because while still working extremely
hard, we have a lot of laughs. I wouldn’t
trade them for the world.

Cathy Bird
Experience/Certifications/Education:
I am an AFAA certified aerobics instructor
since July 1997. I have two yoga certifications;
my first was a 200 hour in 1999 from Fitness
Resources and my second was a 15 month, 500
hour certification from yoga icon Barbara
Benagh, which I completed in January 2006.
I am currently a Registered Yoga Teacher with
Yoga Alliance.
Classes I currently teach:
I currently teach water aerobics and yoga
at the RAC.
Interests: I enjoy taking
three to seven day yoga workshops. I have
been fortunate enough to study yoga with amazing
teachers in some great places like Jamaica,
Colorada and the Berkshires. In the warmer
months, I also do a lot of bicycle riding.
I spend many hours a week on my bike taking
trips to all the beautiful scenic places in
Massachusetts. Other than that, I spend as
much time as I can with my husband and two
teenage daughters, doing whatever interests
them.
Why I love fitness & the RAC:
A fitness workout always makes me feel great.
I value the physical benefits of taking care
of my body, but I am continually amazed at
how much better I feel mentally after working
out. Exercise, especially group exercise,
is such a powerful tool to lift the human
spirit-that is what I enjoy most about it.
I love the RAC because of the atmosphere.
The energy in the RAC is so pleasant. The
front desk is always friendly and helpful;
there is always a manager around if you need
something. Plus the RAC has great fitness
equipment, a big aerobic/yoga room and a beautiful
and well-kept pool. I am glad I work at such
a wonderful place. |

with tons of resistance.

enjoy helping others reach their fitness goals.
It’s so satisfying and rewarding.
Why I love fitness & the RAC:
I love fitness, it’s my life and has
been forever and will be forever. It gives
me peace and keeps me balanced like nothing
else in the world. Thank God, it’s great
for me! I love the RAC because the team/staff

out. The members are just great; they hoot
& holler in class making it just that
much more fun!

Classes I currently teach:
I enjoy teaching Hi/Lo, Step and water aerobics.
Interests: I enjoy cooking
and gardening. If I can find the time, I love

Why I love fitness & the RAC:
I find exercise to be a positive diversion
from daily stresses. You can leave all your
worries at the door when you enter a gym.
After a good workout, things that seemed a
big deal don’t seem so bad. I have met
some very nice people at the RAC. Also, every
time I have ever been at the gym, I have seen
at least one person with a smile!
